  V.4 N.2 Aug. 2004
Greetings! Another busy school year is behind us. Our Moving On Ministry started the summer off with an uplifting meeting and a scrumptious cookout. We were delighted to have some new faces in our group and anticipate future fellowship. During our last gathering we had the joy of hearing about some unusual summer excursions. Some of the group shared that they will participate in short-term mission trips to Africa, the Dominican Republic, and America’s inner cities. We had a special prayer time asking God to protect and use them as ministers of good news. We look forward to listening to their experiences and also seeing you at our next get together in late September or early October.

Schedule of Events
The next event on the calendar is the annual “Victory Banquet” at Oakmont East – Sat. Aug. 28th from 1:00-3:00pm.
"Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ." Philippians 3:8

Grace – The Believer’s Foundation
Marcus Twisdale is a current student at Bob Jones University. Here is his personal testimony of the grace of God operating in his life.

"God has taken this weak vessel, used it for His purposes, and I am confident He will continue to do so. In 1982, at the age of five, I was struck by a car. Once I arrived at the hospital, doctors ran a battery of tests to determine the extent of my injuries. Their conclusions were not encouraging. I had suffered a traumatic brain injury and immediate surgical intervention was essential. The team of physicians further indicated that if I survived the extensive surgery I would probably be unable to communicate and be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of my life.

Twenty-two years have passed since that traumatic day. Throughout the nearly two decades God has provided strength to my paralyzed right side so with a crutch I can walk short distances. He has also supplied a loving and supportive family that also depends on Him.

On April 2, 2002 when my life was again at the brink of death with a serious case of pneumonia He graciously intervened. I am thankful that when I placed my trust in Jesus Christ that He not only secured my eternal destiny but He also took command of my earthly course. There have been certain times when I desired to quit but my Savior has regularly reminded me that His “grace is sufficient” for every infirmity because “His strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Cor. 12: 9a).

Thankfully I need not be apprehensive about the future because it is my kind Lord that protects, empowers, and guides me in the present."
